Welcome to the home of Penn State’s Undergraduate Literary Magazine, Kalliope, a print journal published each spring by a dedicated staff of undergraduate students at Penn State University Park.
The club meets regularly throughout the fall and spring semesters, first to form a community, then to solicit submissions of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and art, then to form committees that will read and select pieces to publish in the annual print journal in the spring. If you’re interested in submitting your work, check out Submissions. If you’re interested in joining the club, see How to Join.
Folio
Folio is a special chapbook edition of Kalliope that releases in the fall semester. Featuring shorter works and greyscale art, this micro chapbook pays homage to our magazine’s humble beginnings.
For more information, see the Submissions page.
Klio
A class offered at University Park, ENGL 209: “Literary Magazine Practicum,” has developed an online sister to Kalliope, called Klio Creative Arts Journal. Calls for submissions usually go out in February, soon after Kalliope submissions close, and continue through March. The course is offered each spring, and a new edition of Klio is published in April.
For more information about the course, contact faculty member Bradley Markle (bmm5362@psu.edu).
